With production for Thor: Love and Thunder set to kickstart in a few months, fans are already expressing their excitement for the Phase 4 project which is being described as an Avengers-level film. Of course, the reason behind it being dubbed that way is because Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, and presumably the entire Guardians of the Galaxy are part of the flick. Now, this begs the question, aside from Thor and the "Asgardians of the Galaxy", could we expect another surprise character to make its way back to the MCU?

Fans are now speculating that Idris Elba, who played Heimdall in the Thor franchise could make his way back to the MCU. It all began when Taika shared a photo of him next to Elba following after they visited the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team last week. Of course, we're all aware of Waititi and Elba's tight bond outside the film industry but who knows? It could definitely lead to something more. Check it out here.

However, it's worth noting that Heimdall died during the opening moments of Avengers: Infinity War at the hands of Thanos and his children, or did he really died? After all, this is the MCU we're talking about and we've seen them pull off some incredible surprises over the years so this one isn't really too farfetched to believe.

Bringing Heimdall back to the fold will surely be a welcome return, and even though Odinson has gained himself quite a few formidable allies over the years, nothing beats the tutelage of an old friend and mentor, right? Plus, seeing Heimdall wield the Hofund (aka the "Bifrost Sword") one more time would be a treat to see. Nothing has been confirmed as of writing so we'll just have to wait and see what goes down.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be hitting cinemas in 2022.
