Could Marvel Be Planning On Retconning The Guardians Of The Galaxy Movies?

There might not be that much information about the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie with the world busy focusing on Avengers: Infinity War, but there have been rumors regarding the third and final Guardians movie.

A few potential leaks for Avengers 4 just recently hit the internet and it looks like one offers an interesting change for the first Guardians of the Galaxy.

The rumored leak which first popped up on Reddit (via Cosmic Book News) has the remainder of the Avengers and the Guardians going back in time to retrieve the Power Stone right before Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) gets the orb in the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

If true, the time travel will create changes in the timeline for both of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Though the thread didn't go into detail about what might change in both films, we know that the changes the Avengers make to the timeline cause a domino effect in the Guardians franchise.

If Star-Lord never gets the orb, then Ronan never gets the Infinity Stone. Guardians of the Galaxy never gets to happen. Ronan doesn't get anywhere near to destroying the Nova Corps, and we never get that "dance off" between Ronan and Quill.

If Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't happen, neither does Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Wonder if things would go that far if the Avengers tried to change the course of history to save the universe from Thanos. We'll have to wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
