Could Marvel Be Developing A Female Thor 4 Starring Tessa Thompson?

Earlier this week, Avengers: Endgame star Tessa Thompson revealed Marvel was possibly going to develop another Thor 4 together with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. Now, speculation has it that this Thor movie may feature a female Thor with Valkyrie taking on the Asgardian God of Thunder's (Chris Hemsworth) mantle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Back on Wednesday, Thompson told the LA Times that she's heard that Thor 4 had already been pitched to the big wigs at Marvel Studios, and while she can't really confirm anything yet, she's pretty sure that the studio plans to bring Waititi back to develop the film.

Now, Cosmic Book News speculates that Thompson may be up for the lead role, taking Hemsworth's place as Thor. While fans love Hemsworth's portrayal of the Asgardian God of Thunder, many are expecting Thor to sacrifice himself along with Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) to undo Thanos' massacre in Avengers: Endgame.

Many also expect Marvel to replace these roles as it moves along the franchise. Knowing that the studio's been making strides towards diversity and representation, Marvel fans believe that Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor will pass on their roles to their female counter parts. Iron Man gets replaced by Ironheart, Captain America by Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, and Thor by Valkyrie.

It might sound a bit of a stunner to some, but comic book readers know that these female counterparts have long since been in Marvel's many comic book series.
