Would Disney Decide to Delay Black Widow?

Black Widow might be set to kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it looks like there's growing concern that the film may see delay because of the fast-spreading COVID-19.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, there's been a lot of speculation that Marvel may decide to push back the release date of Black Widow in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The past few weeks have been filled with reports of major movies being delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. No Time to Die was moved back to November. The ninth film in the Fast and the Furious film franchise was pushed back from its May release to sometime next year. Even A Quiet Place Part II received an indefinite delay.

Would Marvel follow other studios and delay Black Widow? Right now, the film's release date seems to depend on how well Mulan fares when it releases later this month. The live-action remake of the Disney animated classic is still set to premiere on March 27, and if the film does well at the box office, then Disney may decide to push through with Black Widow's May release.

Then again, even if Mulan doesn't do so well, Disney may decide to leave Black Widow with its current release date. The movie still has a few weeks from its release, and by then, the COVID-19 outbreak may have subsided. Let's just wait and see what happens from now on.

Black Widow premieres May 1, 2020.
