Conners Season 5: Showrunners Assure the Coming of the Original Roseanne Character Soon

Executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan teased in September that an original Roseanne character would visit Conners Season 5. The showrunners assured this surprising character would still be seen a couple of months after the revelations, though it's taking a bit longer than expected.

Roseanne originally aired from 1988 to 1997. Though decades have passed, it remains one of the most-loved series. Hence, hearing an original character will make its way to Conners Season 5 excites many.

An Original Roseanne Character to Visit Lanford

According to the EPs, it would be the first time this original character would appear in the spinoff's fifth season.

So, does it mean this character is already seen in the previous seasons?

"I can't reveal it, but there is someone coming from years' past," Helford told TVLine in September. "I think people are going to be very surprised and go, 'Oh s–t!'"

Alternatively, Caplan teased that only "true fans" would appreciate this someone's appearance.

After two months, Helford gave an update, saying the big reveal is "still on its way." However, it may not happen before Conners Season 5's upcoming holiday hiatus on December 7.

"Oh yeah, still happening," he confirmed. "I don't want to tell you much… It could very well be after the first of the new year."

Helford then dropped a clue, saying the mysterious character was a "man."

"It's not just a character, it's the person who played the character," he explained. So, does it mean an original actor is set to return, and his character hasn't been recast yet?

Who Could be the Mysterious Original Roseanne Character?

There are several theories as to whom the original Roseanne character is coming to Conners Season 5.

With the hype, this person is probably notable and recognizable, who fans will easily remember. This man may not only be a guest star but a major character on the show.

Hence, TV Insider sees two potential players: George Clooney and Tom Arnold.

Clooney played a role in the original series' first season as Jackie's (Laurie Metcalf) love interest, and his last appearance was in a flashback during the Season 3 opening.

However, knowing the ER actor hasn't done any TV projects, it may be hard to have him back on the small screen again.

Alternatively, Roseanne's (Roseanne Barr) husband, Tom Arnold, is maybe the mysterious character who will visit Conners Season 5 after playing the role of Arnie Thomas in the original series from Seasons 2 to 5.

Fans should take these assumptions with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet.
