Common Reveals His Suicide Squad Character

It's long been announced that Common, will be in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. But it's only now that the 44-year-old hip-hop artist and actor is shedding light on his character's true identity after months of speculation.

During an interview with Complex to promote his next film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, Common revealed all the details he could of his Suicide Squad character.

The rapper said:

My role [in Suicide Squad] is basically a character who's in business with The Joker. His name is Monster T.

It's worth noting that Common is listed as "Tattooed Man" on Suicide Squad's IMDB page. Meanwhile, in the Complex interview, a couple of tattoos was seen on Common.

It remains to be seen what Monster T really does in Suicide Squad, apart from doing business with The Joker. However, as noted by Cinema Blend, there's a DC Comics character who has a striking resemblance to Common's Monster T. The character's name is, like the IMDB listing, "Tattooed Man." What's interesting is that the DC character has the ability to turn his tattoos into physical form. Meanwhile, Common's variant is inked with a third eye and some kind of beast on his forehead. If speculations are true, he might very well be an important asset of the squad as he could protect himself during fights.

If Common's character is indeed "Tattooed Man," it's interesting to see whether he'll be manipulating the squad's tattoos (a recurring theme in the group's life) and turning them into weapons of some kind.
