Colin Trevorrow Continues to Spoil Jurassic World: Dominion

Director Colin Trevorrow is at it again, dishing out even more details on Jurassic World: Dominion, which isn't hitting theaters until June 10 next year. While we're always up for something to sink our teeth into where the new movie is concerned, are directors and studios going a bit too far with promoting their movies? Well, either way, let's take a look at what's been teased this time...

Many might think that the pandemic's enormous impact on the film industry is now sending film studios into a panic, causing them to over-promote their movies in the lead up to release. You only have to look at the likes of Spider-Man: Far From Home to see this, with a whole ton of trailers now on YouTube. Or is this nothing new? After all, trailers have always been a pretty big problem.

If you cast your mind back to 2018, the trailers for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom included a huge number of scenes from the third act, and now that we've seen the film, they even showed some of the final frames of the movie! This is inexcusable to say the least, and it only leaves us nervous for the Jurassic World: Dominion trailer, which will probably be arriving any day now.

But we're hypocrites, because the latest news isn't a trailer and that only leaves us feeling disappointed! What director Colin Trevorrow has teased is yet another image, having recently unveiled one in which Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) is hiding in a swamp from a therizinosaurus, and another which shows Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) wrangling a parasaurolophus.

And Trevorrow doesn't just stop with the images, as he also spills the beans on what's going on behind each still, offering up plot details we never asked for. Although, the truth is, we'd speculate as to what's going on in them either way! Nevertheless, the latest comes in the form of Owen Grady riding that motorcycle of his, but this time it isn't through the jungles of Jurassic World...

The latest image shows Chris Pratt bounding down steps on his motorcycle with a strange-looking dinosaur in pursuit - which Trevorrow has confirmed to be an Atrociraptor, one of many new species of dinosaur that will feature in the upcoming sequel. The image is an EMPIRE exclusive, but if you click here you can see it in all its glory.

In his interview with EMPIRE, Trevorrow confirms that this scene takes place in Malta, which he has previously confirmed is one of many locations as the movie has a "globe-hopping" nature to it. "It's a sequence set in Malta," he says, "And the picture speaks for itself - it's Chris Pratt being chased by an Atrociraptor. And if they catch up, he's gonna die, I can tell you that."

Trevorrow elaborates on this new breed of 'clever girls', saying, "Where the Velociraptor is a little bit more of a stealth hunter, the Atrociraptor are a bit more brutish. These things will just come at you. And in this particular case, they've picked his scent, and they're not going to stop until he's dead. They're pretty brutal. They're pretty vicious."

Not stopping there, he continues to talk about other dinosaurs in the movie, saying "I love the Pyroraptors. I love the Atrociraptors. There's a little one called the Moros Intrepidus, who doesn't do a ton in the movie, but whenever it shows up, I always love it." The latter dinosaur appeared in a five-minute Jurassic World: Dominion preview that recently premiered on YouTube.

Leaving nothing to the imagination, Trevorrow isn't likely to stop dishing out spoilers on his upcoming movie. While he's undoubtedly excited and passionate, there has to be a line, but he also previously went on record to say that soon it will be "trailers galore."

While we're just as excited, let's hope the trailers for Jurassic World: Dominion aren't anywhere near as spoiler-tastic as the movie's director!

Jurassic World: Dominion releases in theaters on June 10, 2022.
