A new mega-company is set to deliver more anime content in the future. Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio, and Shueisha have just announced that they have jointly established a new company named JOEN which aims to produce new TV shows and films in the future.
The companies shared the news in a joint press release. It confirms that JOEN will be a collaboration between Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio, and Shueisha. JOEN's primary objective is the planning and production of television anime series, anime films, and short clips. In addition to that, it aims to deliver the production to "the best production lines and creators" for both CloverWorks and Wit Studio.
One of JOEN's major goals is to provide a better business model for the studios so that profits will be effectively distributed among "staff, creators, and those involved in the animation studio." Although CloverWorks and Wit Studio are currently the only studios under the company, JOEN also plans to collaborate with various other studios in the future.
CloverWorks and Wit Studio are already off to a great start even before JOEN was announced. The studios are currently collaborating on Spy x Family, which has become the most popular anime in the Spring 2022 line-up. Hopefully, both studios will continue to see more successes in the future.
For now, JOEN has not yet shared details about upcoming projects. However, we could get some news from the company in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
In the meantime, CloverWorks and Wit Studios' joint anime Spy x Family is now in its eighth episode and continues to gain popularity every week. The anime's success has also led to growing manga sales.
Spy x Family Episode 9 is titled Show Off How in Love You Are ("Rabu Rabu o Misetsukeyo") and is expected to adapt the manga's 13th and 14th chapters. The new episode will air on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
