The series will be animated and produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks.

Speculations of an anime adaptation of this popular comedy manga series emerged in early 2021 when the domain “Spy-Family.net” was registered. In February of the same year, a Twitter account named “Spy-Family.net” was also registered. An interview with the Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko voice actress and flutist Cocomi mentioned a SpyxFamily anime adaptation slated to be released next year, but the specific part of this interview was deleted Kodansha’s FRaU Magazine.

SpyxFamily centers on the life of master spy Loid Forger aka “Twilight”, as he must investigate on a certain politician by infiltrating their son’s school. For him to do this, Twilight must have to do the most difficult task any spy should do: get married, have a child of his own, and play the part of a typical family man. Along the way, he meets an office worker named Yor Briar, who happens to be a lethal assassin, and then adopts a girl named Anya, who happens to be an esper. Playing as “The Forgers” family members, the secret spy, the assassin, and the esper must work together to solve crimes and meet their own agendas.

The manga is released in Japan via Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service and licensed in English by VIZ Media. There is still no official date for the anime’s premiere, but 2022 seems to be something worth looking forward to.
