Cloud-Powered Final Fantasy XIII For Android and iOS Launched in Japan


Square Enix has launched a version of Final Fantasy XIII (in Japan) for Android and iOS that runs the cloud and streams to your mobile device or tablet.

The game is sent as a free, tiny (~20MB) app, and the whole game is streamed from G-Cluster service to the player's device as a video. Since the game was originally released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, this version accomodates to the game's controls as its screen is surrounded by large touch targets that match up with most buttons that would normally be.

If you live in Japan, you can play the game for 30 mintutes as a demo period for free; after the demo period, the price rises to 2,000 Yen ($15.99) - About the same as Final Fantasy VI on mobile.

With more people playing games on Android and iOS, Square Enix's move to bring more of its games to mobile isn't a surprise. Would you play Final Fanasy XIII in mobile?
