Long before Rosario Dawson wowed us with her portrayal of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, we all know for a fact that voice actress Ashley Eckstein has defined the iconic Star Wars character since 2008 when The Clone Wars first premiered. The fan-favorite animated series ended on a high note after a successful seven-season run but it sure was bittersweet for everyone involved, especially Ashley.

Now, we still don't know what the future holds for Ahsoka in animated form but the actress is quite hopeful that she'll one day be able to voice her again. Speaking with ComicBookMovie, Ashley said she feels nothing but gratitude towards Disney for allowing them to properly end the series after they originally didn't get the chance to wrap everything up.

She said: "I don't ever take it for granted. I'm so grateful for every opportunity I get to step into Ahsoka's shoes and so when we had this beautiful gift - and I call it a gift because we didn't get the opportunity to finish The Clone Wars originally - when Disney+ announced there would be a final season and we'd get to properly wrap up the series."

When asked if she'd be open to returning to voice the character in a future Star Wars project, the voice actress greeted the possibility with enthusiasm. She shared: "Of course, do I dream of getting to step into Ahsoka's shoes again one day? I would love that. I hope I get to do that, but I also don't look at it that way. I look at it as, ‘Wow, I've had the chance to voice Ahsoka Tano now for, oh gosh, going on fifteen years.' I'm just forever grateful because she's changed my life."

Considering Lucasfilm is slowly shifting its focus to its live-action catalog, the chances of Ashley reprising her Ahsoka role anytime soon don't seem all that likely. That's not to say though that the doors have closed for her because who knows, the production company could come up with an animated spinoff project for the famed Jedi.
