Classic New Mutants Artist Proud Of Cast And Film

The first trailer for New Mutants has not only surprised fans with its focus on horror, but it has also made comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz proud. Providing jaw-dropping art to a number of New Mutants comics, it's good hearing a classic creator be proud of the upcoming movie. Bill also claims that co-creator Chris Claremont was a fan of the film as well and that should please classic X-Men fans.

Sienkiewicz shared his thoughts on a Facebook post, saying that he was a "proud papa" and commending the cast and director Josh Boone for their hard work. He went on to say that these young actors are the New Mutants and the naysayers will have to go through him. It's a very sweet post and one that should keep fans optimistic about next year's movie.

Fox has previously stated that the film's horror esthetics is based on The Demon Bear Saga, which might sound silly but is actually one of the best storylines involving the young heroes. Sienkiewicz provided art for the storyline, which really helped it stand out from other comics back in the day. The artist also lent his stylish art style to Elektra: Assassin, which is a beautiful comic book that fans of Daredevil on Netflix should check out.

New Mutants hits theaters on April 13, 2018. The film is directed by Josh Boone and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Alice Braga, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, and Blu Hunt.
