2NE1 surprised everyone with their mini-reunion on the first weekend of Coachella 2022. What was supposed to be a solo appearance of CL turned out to be a grand performance with her fellow K-pop group members, Bom, Dara and Minzy.

However, it looks like there's a real reason why 2NE1 reunited that night. Surely, Coachella 2022 proves to be one for the books with the arrival of some of the most iconic K-pop stars and groups for 88rising's "Head in the Clouds Forever" lineup.

2NE1 Reunion at Coachella 2022

In a post on Instagram on Monday, April 18, CL revealed the real reason why the iconic 2010s K-pop group reunited.

"After I got invited to Coachella, I really wanted to invite the members too because I wanted to see us reunite on our terms before it's too late," she said. "I wanted to relay my gratefulness to everyone who has been supporting and loving 2NE1 for the past 13 years through this stage performance."

For that reason, she said their reunion was the most important and meaningful day for her. That way, she hoped their fans could relive the past emotions they felt through them through their stage performance together.

"I am once again thankful for the members who dazzled today's performance and everyone who worked together to make this come true," she continued. "I will keep running until the day we could perform a full hour on this stage."

She also said that she was grateful and blessed to be alive with pleasure. "Long enough to witness the marks I make and the things I create blossom," she added.

2NE1 and Other K-Pop Artists at Coachella 2022

Coachella is known for featuring mostly Western artists, but it dramatically changed this year with the dominance of K-pop artists. In fact, Koreaboo noted it as a low-key K-pop music festival.

88rising, an American multinational music company that helps emerging artists in the U.S., announced several of its performers would perform at Coachella 2022 as part of the collaboration between "Head in the Clouds Forever" and Coachella.

Of course, it was led by 2NE1. CL was a featured performing act, but she decided to bring Dara, Minzy and Bom with her on stage.

It was the first time the group reunited after the 2015 MAMAs to perform their smash hit "I Am the Best."

It was followed by Epik High and delivered a legendary performance. After they graced the first weekend, they would be back for the second weekend, too.

Feel Ghood Music member BIBI also blessed the concertgoers with her immense beauty and great talent. She performed alongside the icon rapper Yoon Mirae, giving justice to the hit song "The Weekend."

GOT7's Jackson Wang was also there, letting everyone hear her new single, "Blow."

In addition, Japanese Breakfast or a.k.a. Michelle Zauner performed "Be Sweet" and "The Body is a Blade."

If those are not yet enough, Kevin Woo was also there to attend the music festival. BLACKPINK's Jennie was also spotted with the audience.
