Remember when it was first reported that Christian Bale will be joining the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder? Fans had so many speculations on who he would be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily, the truth has finally been revealed by Disney and Marvel Studios.
Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson previously confirmed that Bale had been cast as the villain in the fourth Thor movie. This immediately led to speculations on which Marvel comic book baddie will appear in the MCU flick. But interestingly, it appears that nobody guessed it right.
Bale's casting was officially confirmed during Disney Investor Day. In addition to that, the Oscar winner's role was revealed.
"Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale will join the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. In theaters May 6, 2022," the tweet reads.
To be honest, Gorr the God Butcher was one of the likely characters that I thought would be an excellent choice. However, there were more exciting options like Mephisto and Minotaur. Nevertheless, there is little doubt that Bale will be able to take on the role without any problems.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Taika Waititi and bring back Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson. Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt has also been confirmed to appear as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the movie. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2022.
