Christian Bale Confirmed to Play Major Villain in Thor: Love and Thunder

It looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a little more interesting. It has just been confirmed that Academy Award winner Christian Bale will be playing the main villain in Thor: Love and Thunder.

The confirmation comes from Avengers: Endgame star Tessa Thompson, who revealed to ET Online that Bale has already signed on to the MCU sequel that will be helmed by Taika Waititi and is taking on a major role.

"Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic," Thompson shared. The Westworld Season 3 actress also admitted that she already knows what will happen in Love and Thunder and has been keeping in touch with co-star Natalie Portman.

"I've read the script. I can't tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We're going to have fun. Taika is writing [and] directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix," Thompson said.

This is exciting news indeed considering that Bale is known for being able to take on any role completely. For now, we're not yet sure who he will be playing in Love and Thunder but there is little doubt that he's going to be awesome in the MCU flick.

Thor: Love and Thunder will also bring back Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. There have been speculations that Tom Hiddleston is expected to return as Loki in the film as well although this has not yet been confirmed. The movie is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.
