Chris Pratt Calls for Pitches on Who He Should Play in James Gunn's DCU

It will be the final ride for the guardians as the third installment of their story hits theaters in two months. When James Gunn announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last project for Marvel Studios as he intends to take the post as co-head at DC Studios, most fans wondered if he also wants to take the Guardians of the Galaxy cast with him. The writer-director previously stated that he wants to, if given the chance. Now, Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill or Star-Lord in the saga, addressed the possibility of joining Gunn in the new DCU.

In a recent interview with CBR, Pratt remarked that he’s just a phone call away if Gunn has plans to cast him in anything for the revamped DCU and also noted that since he doesn’t know any DC comic character, he will leave it to the fans to cast him. “As far as DC characters pan, I don't know. I will let the fans tell me what they would want me to do. I don't have anything official to announce. I haven't spoken to James Gunn in any capacity to where he's offered me anything like that. But listen, I love the guy. You know, he's one of my best friends. I totally believe in him. And if he calls me, I am answering.” he said.

The actor also admitted that he has spoken to the CEO about a potential transfer from Marvel to DC, praising Gunn’s plans for the new universe that he is building. “Oh, my gosh. Oh, man. Of course, I've spoken to him. You know, I'm really happy for him, with the developments in his career. I think DC is super lucky to have him in that position. It's hard for me to imagine a person, a better person for that role. He just loves comics. He's so smart. He's such an auteur. We're obviously super, super pumped for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to come out. It's truly a masterpiece.” Pratt underscored.

Aside from Pratt, Dave Bautista has also been tied to Gunn's DCU, sparking discussion about their potential jump to DC. Bautista has been vocal that Vol. 3 will be his final MCU project, but Pratt has been vague about his future at Marvel. Gunn has hinted at casting both actors in future DCU projects, with many DC fans expecting Pratt to portray Booster Gold following a Booster Gold HBO Max series announcement in January as part of DC's new TV and film slate.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in cinemas on May 5, 2023.
