Chris Pine Wants to Join Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek Movie

The future of the Star Trek franchise might still be undecided but it looks like Chris Pine has already made up his mind about which project he likes best. The Wonder Woman 1984 actor has just admitted that he wants to work on Quentin Tarantino's wild gangster film.

It was previously reported that Tarantino's Star Trek movie is going to focus on Captain James T. Kirk. After all, the film itself is based on the legendary gangster episode from The Original Series. Not surprisingly, Pine revealed that he hasn't been given the script just yet but it is something he is very interested in.

"I have no idea what's happening in Star Trek land, but I love the character, I love the universe, I love my friends in it, you know, to have a Quentin take on it would be tremendously interesting and entertaining," Pine told Comicbook.com. "You know, look, whatever happens, if I come back or not, it's a great universe, it deserves to have a future, and I hope that is the case."

It was previously reported that Tarantino's project is "based on an episode of the classic Star Trek series that takes place largely earthbound in a 30s gangster setting." This is a clear reference to the episode A Piece of the Action where Kirk, Spock, and the crew of the Enterprise end up on a planet whose inhabitants have fashioned themselves after a book titled Chicago Mobs of the Twenties.

For now, it is unclear which Star Trek film will be pursued. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
