Chris Hemsworth Grateful That Thor Director Gave Him What He Desperately Wanted

Before Thor: Ragnarok, the Thor film franchise was marked by its gravitas and seriousness. Ever since Ragnarok director Taika Waititi's come into the picture, the Asgardian God of Thunder's movies have become more colorful and offbeat.

Speaking in an interview with GQ, Thor actor Chris Hemsworth talks about Waititi's contribution to the MCU, saying that the director managed to bring a new element to the Asgardian God of Thunder that he's been yearning for years.

"He's insanely fun," the actor says, describing the filmmaker. "But don't mistake that child-like, frantic energy for someone who isn't prepared. That's quite a unique combination, that he has the ability to, through humor, put you at ease, but is also armed with all the knowledge that a director needs to lead you through the process. And it came at a time when I desperately wanted there to be more humor to the character."

Waititi's definitely known for his humor. Even before directing Ragnarok, the filmmaker's filmography has been marked by its offbeat humor. The New Zealand director rose to fame in the independent film scene after releasing darlings like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

While we can't be sure what Waititi has planned for Marvel's fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, we do know that the director's probably going to give the film the same color and excitement that he gave in Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on February 11, 2022.
