Chris Hemsworth Describes Taika Waititi as 'a 7-Year Old Making a Movie' in Thor: Love and Thunder

In just a few more days of anticipation, fans will witness the monumental return of Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder in Thor: Love and Thunder. Helmed by Taika Waititi — who also directed the threequel Thor Ragnarok, the upcoming film will follow Hemsworth's titular character in his journey for self-rediscovery while dealing with a god-slaying villain Gorr The God Butcher, played by critically-acclaimed actor Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder will also see the return of Thor-centric characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korg, Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman's MCU return as Jane Foster, set to wield Mjolnir as the mighty Lady Thor. With all these exhilarating things ahead, Taika Waititi surely isn't holding back.

"It was Taika at his craziest. Taika, normally, is kind of at an 11, so you can do the math there," Hemsworth told Australia's Today. "He described it as like he'd been given the keys to the kingdom, and someone said, 'Here, if a seven year old was making a movie, what would you do?' He said, 'Well, I want to put this in it. I want to do this. I want to try this.' And everything he suggested, I said yes to, and then we had this insane film in front of us."

Hemsworth added that the upcoming film has "all the fun, and humor, and wackiness that all of Taika's films have," but with "a great love story in the center of it. There's a lot of heart, and some incredible Marvel action, as you can imagine."

Based on what we've experienced from Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi's distinct directing style seemingly works for the Thor franchise. Ragnarok highlighted an extremely hilarious character shift for Thor, and literally changed the whole vibe of the film. Some fans even labeled Thor: Ragnarok as the best Thor film of all time, and now call the franchise the Waititi-verse.

Well, whatever craziness Waititi is incorporating for the upcoming film, fans absolutely trust the creative process of the director. If Waititi is indeed the craziest for Thor: Love and Thunder, then fans can expect a more humorous film than Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on July 8.
