Chris Evans on Why the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Such a Success

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been nothing but a success. With more than twenty movies under its belt, the Marvel film franchise has earned more than $22.55 billion at the worldwide box office, it's highest-earning movie, Avengers: Endgame, beating out Avatar with its $2.79 billion gross.

While most fans attribute the Marvel Cinematic Universe's commercial and critical success to its time-tested popcorn flick formula, Captain America star Chris Evans believes that the reason why Marvel movies are so popular is because of the synergy of the people making the films.

Speaking in an interview with Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd for an episode of Variety's Actors on Actors segment, Evans talks about the popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the reason behind the Marvel film franchise's success.

"It was intimidating at first. Everyone has expectations," Evans told Rudd, "You know what it's like working at Marvel. They make you feel so comfortable. It feels like such a group effort. It's a real landscape of competing ideas and the best idea wins, and that's how they end up with so many good movies. Very quickly you kind of put down your fear and recline a little bit and recognize that you're in good hands."

Rudd agrees, saying that it's Marvel's team-spirit that helps make all of the movies a success. Of course, good working relationships can certainly lead to the success of a film. It takes a lot of work to produce a movie, and studios need to make sure that things are going well on set so that the director's vision actually materializes in the film.
