Riverdale continues to be a success despite itself, so it was only a matter of time before a spin-off was made. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is that spin-off series, though it will only show on Netflix and not have any crossovers with its sister show anytime soon. We've already seen some of the cast and a poster, so all that's left is a trailer and release date.
We managed to get one of those, as the series premiere date was announced during the TCA. Apparently, this new gritty version of Sabrina the Teenage Witch will be coming out on October 26.
According to TVGuide, a bunch of Sabrina cosplayers went to the stage and started chanting "something wicked this way comes" before revealing the premiere date on the back of their jackets. That's a somewhat cheesy way to reveal the series' premiere but if anyone has seen Riverdale, the cheese makes perfect sense, along with the forced edginess.
The October release date is perfect in all honesty since this gives viewers something to watch on Halloween. This should also lead to a trailer in the near future, given how close October is. Here is hoping that the show is of some quality or, at the least, pleases the existing Riverdale audience.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres on October 26.
