Chicago P.D. Season 10 to See Jesse Lee Soffer’s Departure

Chicago P.D. Season 10 will see the departure of Jesse Lee Soffer. This will be the last time fans are about to see the actor as Detective Jay Halstead in the series.

Soffer’s exit surprises many after being one of the series’ original cast members. So to address his exit, the 38-year-old star released an official statement.

Jesse Lee Soffer Leaves Chicago P.D. Season 10

Soffer offered no words on why he decided to leave Chicago P.D. Season 10, but he at least thanked everyone who supported the show, per TVLine.

He said,

“I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates and our incredible crew.”

He continued,

“To create this hour drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.”

Soffer has played the role of Jay Halsted since the series began in 2019. His exit will also mean that fan-favorite couple, aptly called Upstead, the pairing of him and Intelligence cop Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), will end after their secret wedding in the previous season.

The Storylines Chicago P.D. Season 10 may Address

Chicago P.D. Season 9 ended with a major cliffhanger with the tragic death of the police informant Anna (Carmela Zumbado).

Hence, the new season will reveal how her demise will play out in the series and affect the Intelligence Unit, per NBC.

The previous season revolved around Anna and Voight’s (Jason Beghe) strained relationship and effort to take Escano down.

Upton and Halsted ended up shooting and killing Anna instead. The move surprised Voight, who was left distraught after Anna’s death.

The two have witnessed Voight’s activities as he tried to cover up Anna’s crimes. Both Upton and Halsted are now involved in this issue after trying to protect Voigth and killing Anna in the process.
