Burgess and Ruzek will face a greater challenge in Chicago PD Episode 200.

The connection between the two officers dates back to the first season of Chicago PD when Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) made a lighthearted remark to Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). They have experienced crushes, been ex-partners, and have had commitment challenges.

Burgess has decided to move in with Ruzek, in part for the purpose of her adoptive daughter Makayla, as part of the landmark 10th season.

Chicago PD Episode 200: What To Expect

In the episode titled Trapped, Burgess and Ruzek get stranded on a crowded L metro train. They will unite to collect the scarce available evidence. The crew, however, becomes entangled in a tragic family drama. And specifically for Burgess, her proximity to a gunshot triggers the emergence of unpleasant memories. The episode is touted as focusing on Burgess as the primary Chicago PD character and delving deeply into her complex and violent past.

Ruzek can be seen pleading for help in TVLine's preview images. In a different image, Burgess sits with a wounded victim, indicating that her trauma will reappear (played by guest star Tireni Oyenusi). Characters such as Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Platt (Amy Norton) are also highlighted in the images.

Chicago PD Episode 200 Release Date

Chicago PD Episode 200 will drop on NBC on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

It will be a continuation of the character's journey from the procedural's previous arcs that have never been fully handled, as Chicago PD creator Gwen Sigan revealed that Burgess' PTSD from being kidnapped would receive more attention. Sigan also discussed Burgess's trauma and how she would be compelled to face it. However, Burgess will not be the only one affected by such a huge plot development. Additionally, her loved ones will be affected.

Burgess's improved relationships with her daughter and Ruzek will result from her efforts to address her PTSD. Chicago PD will likely celebrate its 200th episode by focusing on the relationship that has propelled the show since its inception.
