Yesterday, word came out that Marvel was reportedly planning on a Nick Fury television series for Disney's upcoming streaming service. Now, it looks like Disney has something "bigger"in store for Marvel on its streaming platform, something beyond a series starring Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, Slash Film decided to debunk yesterdays rumor that Marvel was developing a Nick Fury series to go along with its shows lined up for Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in Disney's new streaming up.
According to Slash Film writer Peter Sciretta, Disney might be working on other Marvel Cinematic Universe television series for its new service, however, the series won't be focused on Nick Fury. Instead, the new show is going to be "something bigger and better." It would be something "more."
It's definitely exciting news, and while Sciretta would like to give more details regarding the alleged Marvel series, he'd rather hold off on giving information away without getting a reliable second source.
However, when a fan chimed in saying that the project could be something by pop culture connoisseur Kevin Smith, Sciretta couldn't help but agree.
"I've been wondering the same thing," the writer responded. "I've heard the Smith thing is a big franchise at Disney, no idea what it is though."
Meanwhile, according to Slash Film's writer, whoever made up the rumor that Nick Fury would be getting his own series hasn't been reliable at all, claiming that the source usually just makes things up.
"A broken clock is right twice a day. Dude, this guy just makes things up. People email him and he reports rumors without confirmation. Sometimes some of the things end up being true because they are educated guesses. His Avengers 4 title was reported by a major site months before he tweeted it. So much for a scoop," the writer posted on a tweet.
Of course, as with all rumors, fans have to take this new information regarding Disney's plans for Marvel with a grain of salt. Nothing is for certain till we get a full confirmation from Marvel or from Disney itself.
Avengers 4 is set to premiere on May 3, 2019.
