Check Out Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista’s Original Guardians Of the Galaxy Screen Test

Marvel did a great job at casting its stars for Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise. Though it was a gamble to cast Marvel newbies like the cutesy Parks & Recreation actor Chris Partt and popular pro wrestler Dave Bautista, the two easily won over hearts when they appeared on the big screen as the dancing playboy smuggler Star Lord and the dense “nothing goes over my head” warrior Drax the Destroyer.

The original film did pretty well at the box office back during its release, and its sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which is currently making its rounds in theaters is also raking in the numbers as well as positive reviews.

Now, to celebrate the growth of the franchise, we’re featuring one of the very first screen tests for Pratt and Bautista in the original Guardians of the Galaxy. The two Marvel stars are acting out their very first encounter where Quill tries to save Zoe Saldana’s Gamora from being sliced open by Drax. Check it out down here:

There goes that “slicing his head off his throat” joke that flies right over Drax’s head again. Never gets old. Pratt’s also a bit chubbier here – he used to put on a lot of pounds for his adorkable and loveable role as Andy Dwyer and FBI agent Burt Macklin in NBC comedy series Parks & Recreation. Thankfully his charm remained even after losing weight for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently screening in cinemas.
