Paul King's Wonka movie introduces new characters to a much-loved classic. Along with these characters, we get to see recognizable faces portraying them. One of which is a surprise cameo played by Charlotte Ritchie in Wonka 2023.

Who is Charlotte Ritchie in Wonka?
Charlotte Ritchie has never been publicly revealed as part of the new Wonka movie. So when viewers spotted the actress in the film, they were pleasantly surprised to see her familiar face in the movie.
This isn't a spoiler about the role of Charlotte Ritchie in Wonka since we don't know much about it yet. Esquire simply spoils us by revealing that Ritchie's character receives a proposal from Phil Wang, as he tap dances on a cafe table with Timothée Chalamet.
Upon checking, Ritchie's character is reportedly called Barbara (according to IMDB). Coincidentally, Ritchie plays a much-loved character in Call the Midwife who was named Barbara Gilbert. Could it be that Ritchie's role in Wonka is an Easter egg?
But for now, that's all you're getting out of us regarding Ritchie's involvement in Wonka.
Is Barbara in Roald Dahl's Novel?
As mentioned, the 2023 film, Wonka, introduces new characters. Even though there are two other films about Willy Wonka, Barbara is not included in any of them.
It's possible that she is simply a cameo in the film and does not hold such an important role in Wonka's origins.
It's also important to note that Wonka is the origin story of the beloved chocolatier. So most of its characters may not be in the original source material.

Where You've Seen Charlotte Ritchie From
The 34-year-old English actress is most famous for her role in Ghosts as Alison Cooper. She was also in the Channel 4 comedy, Fresh Meat, playing the role of Oregon. In Siblings, she played the role of Hannah.
More recently, Ritchie made waves for her character as the icy Kate Galvin in the fourth season of the psychological thriller, You. Her role draws the attention of the dark character, Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley). But before he can change his ways, it is revealed that Kate has more skeletons in her closet.
She is set to reprise her role when the series returns for its fifth and final chapter. We're already looking forward to seeing her return to the final season. In the meantime, we'll settle for her cameo in Wonka.
