Channel 4 Reportedly Developing A V For Vendetta TV Series

Alan Moore might have always despised Hollywood's film adaptations of his comics, however, the critically acclaimed graphic novel writer has never been approached with offers to have his works adapted for television.

Though movie adaptations of Moore's comics like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and From Hell bombed while Watchmen and V for Vendetta ended up being divisive for fans, these complex graphic novels may have been limited by the constraints of cinema.

Now, according to a report by Bleeding Cool, rumor has it that V for Vendetta might get its own television adaptation. Apparently, Channel 4 is hoping to turn the graphic novel into a TV series, and while the rumor has to be taken with a grain of salt, it definitely sounds like an exciting project for fans of Moore's work.

Though The Wachowski's film 2005 film adaptation of V for Vendetta certainly has been given positive reviews by film critics like Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, critics like BBC's Jonathan Ross and Philadelphia Weekly's Sean Burns blasted the film's treatment of the graphic novel's political message. There were quite a number of changes to the source material, possibly because of the lack of time for development that only a two-hour movie can afford.

Perhaps, by extending the adaptation into a series, V for Vendetta's political undertones and complexities can be better explored. Let's wait and see whether this series will really come to light.
