Following the release of Chainsaw Man Chapter 137, fans have no idea what’s going on, but many are loving the series’ wild events.
Chainsaw Man has always been an unpredictable series, but the latest chapter might just be the most out there.
While the chapter ended with no clear indication of what happens next, fans are very much along for the ride given the incredibly violent and surprisingly funny sequences in Denji’s journey.

Denji Hasn’t Matured in Chainsaw Man Chapter 137’s Events
Chainsaw Man Chapter 137 picks up right where the previous one ends, and it sees Denji reject the advances of the mysterious new girl who asks him to lick the dead Devil in the cinema in exchange for sex.
In response, Denji went on a monologue on how he’s tired of mindlessly obeying orders and that he’s matured and won’t fall for honey traps anymore.
He continued by saying that the girl should have some self-respect, but it turns out the monologue was only in Denji’s imagination as he is shown licking the Devil.
Following this hilarious turn of events, Denji and the mystery girl proceed to a karaoke place.
There, the girl proceeds to sing, and without any explanation, a group of guys enter and attack Denji.
At the end of the chapter, Denji has beaten up numerous guys in the karaoke place’s hallway, and at this point, it’s not clear what will happen next.

Fans Spot Maximum the Hormone and Oldboy References in Chapter 137
The hilarious twist of Denji licking the Devil was definitely a highlight of the chapter, but what got the most attention was the girl’s singing.
Fans also discovered that the girl was singing ChuChu Lovely MuniMuni MuraMura PrinPrin Boron Nururu ReroRero by Maximum the Hormone, the iconic band who also performed one of the anime’s ending themes.
This song is perfect for the scene of Denji beating up the attacking guys as something like this is straight out of a Quentin Tarantino film. It also makes sense given Fujimoto’s noted love for movies.
Though the scene also seemingly references another film – Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy.
Specifically, Denji knocking out everyone in the hall is reminiscent of Oldboy’s iconic hallway scene, as noted by fans.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer before finding out what happens next though, as Chainsaw Man Chapter 138 will have a one-week break.
