CBS to Stream Impactful Star Trek Episodes to Support Black Lives Matter

This Wednesday, on June 17, CBS All Access invites fans to take part in the #StarTrekUnited where the streaming service will air 15 of the most culturally relevant episodes of Star Trek to support Black Lives Matter. It's a really good move from the company since the franchise has always been known for being a fairly progressive one, from the first show that started in the ‘60s to the current programs that are dominating All Access.

It's not just CBS All Access subscribers who get to have all the fun since these episodes will also be free to stream for one week on CBS.com so now's your chance to see how big of an impact this series has had on people. CBS has also revealed which 15 episodes will be shown as part of #StarTrekUnited.

  • Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 3 Episode 10, "Plato's Stepchildren"
  • Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 1 Episode 25, "The Devil In The Dark"

As if all that Star Trek goodness wasn't enough to convince you to take part in this, CBS is also pledging to give $1 to a number of Black Lives Matter charities for every tweet that has #StarTrekUnited in it. Why they don't just donate $1 million to a number of charities is beyond me but we suppose they want some social media presence for this. Here's hoping they end up giving a sizable donation.

Fans can partake in the #StarTrekUnited event tomorrow on June 17.
