Carrie Fisher’s Family Criticizes Unofficial Biography on The Star Wars Legend

It's been three years since Carrie Fisher's passing, and Lucasfilm intends to dedicate its upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to the Star Wars legend much like it dedicated Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Harrison Ford's Han Solo and Star Wars: The Last Jedi to Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.

Now, it looks like there's also a new book focused entirely on the Fisher, unfortunately, it doesn't really come with the blessing of the actress' family.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheila Weller just recently published a biography about Fisher titled Carrie Fisher: A Life on the Edge. The book, however, does not have the endorsement of the Star Wars icon's family.

Fisher's ex-husband, the father of Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd, wrote a statement regarding the biography by Weller.

"A person named Sheila Weller has taken it upon herself to sell and write an unauthorized biography based on my daughter's mother, Carrie Fisher," Lourd wrote, "I do not know Ms. Weller. Billie does not know Ms. Weller. And, to my knowledge, Carrie did not know her."

Lourd warns fans about the book saying that Weller didn't really involve the Fisher family in the process. According to the actress' former spouse, fans would be better off reading the books that Fisher herself wrote.

"To be clear I haven't read the book. The only books about Carrie Fisher worth reading are the ones Carrie wrote herself. She perfectly told us everything we needed to know," Lourd continued in his statement.

That's quite true if you think about it. Fisher wrote a number of books about her life including Wishful Drinking and The Princess Diarist.

Fisher can be seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which is set to release on December 20, 2019.
