There is little doubt that Captain Marvel is all about Carol Danvers and how she ended up back on Earth after being with the Kree for some time. Interestingly, the new TV spot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick might confirm that Carol was actually sent back home on a very specific mission.
The Captain Marvel Connection TV spot opens with Nick Fury asking Carol why she's dressed for laser tag, a hilarious reference to her sleek green Kree suit. Carol doesn't even bat an eyelash at the question. "Oh boy, you guys don't have any clue, do you?" she asks back before explaining her mission.
"I'm here to stop the shapeshifters that are infiltrating your planet," Carol says. The next scene features Captain Marvel herself taking on several Skrulls, one of which is so enraged that he growls at her. Again, Carol isn't one to be easily intimidated. She promptly screams back at him before launching a furious attack.
Carol's revelation seems to confirm that she isn't back on Earth by mistake. Although the film's first trailer suggested that she crashlanded on our planet because of some accident, it appears that the Kree may have wanted Carol to go back home so she can protect humanity.
There's another good reason why the new TV spot is titled Connection. Once again, it features the 1995 hit song by Elastica. This gives us a good idea of what to expect in Captain Marvel's soundtrack.
The synopsis for Captain Marvel reads as follows:
"Set in 1995, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with questions about her past and identity when Earth is caught in the center of a galactic conflict between two alien worlds."
