Making the Name Carly Rae Jepsen

The now-36-year-old star already knew she wanted to be a musician at an early age. She relocated to Vancouver after leaving college.

She considered appearing at open-mic nights the “happiest time in her life” despite working odd jobs.

From there, she started the journey of her colorful career. She auditioned for Canadian Idol and finished third place.

Her fame led her to sign a contract and release debut songs like “Sunshine on My Shoulders.” Her debut album, Tug of War, then came out and sold about 100,000 copies.

It was the year she released the hit single “Call Me Maybe,” leading to signing a record deal with Scooter Braun and Schoolboy Records.

The song became the best-selling single all over the world in 2012. She followed it with the release of a six-track EP called Curiosity.

In the same year, she released Kiss. After three years, she released another album, Emotion, featuring the hit single “I Really Like You.”
