Captain Marvel Scavenger Hunts Involves Blockbuster Video Parody Shops

Captain Marvel is truly embracing everything about the 1990s. The latest promotion for the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick is bringing back Blockbuster Video in a scavenger hunt that will feel like a step back in time.

We already know that Blockbuster Video will show up in Captain Marvel but the iconic shops are also part of the film's promotion. According to a Reddit post, there are several pop-up video stores seen in several malls. The shops are called "Stanley's Stores" and don't actually offer videos for rent. Instead, they serve as an area where people can join a scavenger hunt and hopefully get an awesome prize.

The name of the pop-up shops isn't lost to Marvel fans. Many believe it is a tribute to the late Stan Lee.

It's certainly a fitting tribute. Captain Marvel is already expected to feature a touching Stan Lee cameo that will move the audiences to tears.

Although we will finally get to see her as a Kree warrior in Captain Marvel, Brie Larson has also achieved another awesome title. Star Wars has somehow named the actress an honorary Jedi after it was revealed that she had borrowed Samuel L. Jackson's lightsaber while working on the film.

The synopsis for Captain Marvel reads as follows:

"Set in 1995, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with questions about her past and identity when Earth is caught in the center of a galactic conflict between two alien worlds."

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.
