Captain Marvel Poster Gives Us A New Look At Carol Danvers And Her Cat Chewie

Marvel fans are certainly having a swell time today. Not only has Marvel dropped the very first full trailer for Captain Marvel on today's episode of Good Morning America, but it looks like the studio has a brand new teaser poster for Brie Larson's first standalone movie as Carol Danvers.

Marvel just recently released a new poster for Captain Marvel and it we get to see Carol Danvers all suited up entering an air hanger with the tagline "Higher Further Faster," right above her. But that's not all. The poster also features the lower half of what seems to be Carol's cat, Chewie.

Check it out down here:

It's pretty interesting that Marvel would include Chewie in the poster. In the comics, Carol adopts Chewie after defeating an evil space wizard while she's still Miss Marvel. Though the cat looks a lot like any other ordinary feline, Chewie actually belongs to an alien species called Flerken, and Carol names her little floofball after Star Wars Wookie, Chewbacca. After Carol becomes Captain Marvel in the comics, Rocket Racoon searches for Chewie and tries to kill it before it can lay eggs. Of course, Rocket failed, and Chewie ends up with more than 117 children. Carol tries to leave Chewie and its offspring at an intergalactic rescue center, but Chewie, being fond of its master, teleports itself back to Carol.

Chewie is a pretty interesting feline, and comic book readers would definitely love to see the Flerken in Captain Marvel. The only problem is that we're not quite sure whether or not the studio is going to include the cat in the actual movie or whether the studio's just using Chewie as an Easter Egg in its poster. Let's wait and see what happens.

Captain Marvel hits cinemas March 08, 2019.
