Captain Marvel Concept Art Officially Released

Before we got any trailers or first looks for Captain Marvel some concept art of her costume had leaked online. Now with Marvel Studios building up the hype for the arrival of the movie next year, concept artist Andy Park gives us the original concept art.

Check it out:

The amazing thing about Marvel Studios is that they are able to take any comic book costume and translate it into a practical-looking suit. Sure they may have removed iconic elements from their earlier days as they did with Hawkeye or Scarlet Witch, but Doctor Strange looks like he leaped straight out of the comics and into the big screen.

Based on what we've seen in the trailers, it looks like Captain Marvel's suit is altered Kree gear. First, we see it in its original green form, but by the end, it will be shining the classic red and blue from the comics. We don't know how that transformation is supposed to occur, but I'm sure the movie will give us a straight-up answer.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel" is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Catch Captain Marvel in theaters March 8, 2019.
