Captain America: New World Order Will Test Sam Wilson's Limits as a Leader

There is little doubt that Captain America: New World Order is currently one of the most highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe projects in development. After all, it is set to be the first big project featuring Sam Wilson as the new Captain America after the events in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. As exciting as it is, this doesn't mean that things will be easy for Anthony Mackie's character. Director Julius Onah has stated that Captain America 4 will test Sam's limits as a new leader.

Julius Onah recently spoke to ETOnline at the D23 Expo where he described Captain America: New World Order as an “incredibly intense but fun paranoid thriller” that will test Sam Wilson's limit.

“We’re really testing him,” Onah said. “And now that he’s taken the mantle of Captain America, he’s really going to question what it means to lead. And all the action and all the emotionality of the story is really built around him answering that question.”

The director continued by stating that Sam had initially been a supporting player on “this incredible team” but now he's the “guy in charge of life and death situations.” With that in mind, Sam now has a huge responsibility deal with.

“His values are going to determine so much of what’s going to happen moving forward,” Onah said. “We’re putting that to the test in this film.”

We're not sure exactly how Sam will be tested in Captain America: New World Order but there's a good chance he will be leading a team of his own that consists of the Bradleys (Isaiah and Eli) and Joaquin Torres, who is expected to take on the Falcon mantle. Needless to say, Captain America 4 is one film we should all look forward to.

Captain America: New World Order scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024.
