Captain America's First Comic Issue Sells for an Impressive $3.1 Million

There is no doubt that Marvel Comics has a rich legacy dating back to the pre-World War II era when they introduced a bunch of characters that are still beloved up to this day like Captain America, the Human Torch, and Namor. For dedicated comic book collectors, it is on their bucket list to have older issues in their possession, but of course, it would cost a lot for them as it has a very high market value today, especially if it's in a near-mint condition.

According to Forbes, the very first issue of the Captain America Comics that was first published in March 1941 was recently sold for over $3.1 million, becoming one of the most expensive comic books ever sold at an auction. The copy was certified by The Certified Guaranty Company which gave it a 9.4 meaning that it is in near-mint condition.

The record for the most expensive comic book ever sold is currently held by the Amazing Fantasy #15, published in 1962 and featured the first-ever appearance of Spider-Man, which was sold for $3.6 million in September last year. It beat the April 2021 record of 1938's Action Comics #1, featuring the first appearance of Superman, which was sold for $3.25 million.
