Captain America: Civil War Directors Joe and Anthony Russo to Produce ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake

The Russo brothers are slowly making their way into other film genres in Hollywood.

Joe and Anthony Russo, popular for helming acclaimed Marvel films Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the recent Captain America: Civil War, are setting to help out Michael B. Jordan produce MGM's The Thomas Crown Affair remake, Deadline reports.

The project is set to re-imagine the heist story of a bored, billionaire, debonair thief, who meets his match in a persistent insurance investigator.

Jordan will star as the lead character, Thomas Crown, portrayed by Steve McQueen in 1968 and Pierce Brosnan in 1999. Meanwhile, Faye Dunaway and Rene Russo portrayed their respective female leads and dogged detectives.

The Russos will produce the project under their Getaway Productions together with Mike Larocca. They will aid Jordan and MGM with the development of the film, which has yet to find its director.

The tag-team film vets' schedules are currently packed with the two-part Avengers: Infinity War Marvel movies. They are set to shoot the films back-to-back for nine months or so and will begin later this year.

It looks like a good year for the Russo brothers and I think they deserve it. Not only have they made The Winter Soldier and Civil War entertaining, they managed to give depth and continuity to each Marvel character they featured. Both films have received commercial and critical acclaim.

I'm not sure what to expect of The Thomas Crown Affair remake. However, with the Russo brothers involved, I might just give it a fair chance.
