Soon after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC franchise late last year, Patty Jenkins' planned third Wonder Woman film, which would have brought back Gal Gadot for another heroic adventure as Diana Prince, was shelved by DC Studios after years of development.

Some fans expressed their disappointment over the project's cancellation as they would have loved to see Gadot's Wonder Woman in another solo adventure within the DCEU.

Back when the cancellation happened, there were no details yet regarding what Jenkins' plans for the third film would have been except for the tease on 1984's post-credits scene surrounding Lynda Carter's cameo as Asteria.

Now, a new scoop has laid some details regarding the story ideas that Jenkins had for the canceled project.

According to insider @CanWeGetToast on X, Jenkins' plan for the canceled Wonder Woman 3 would have taken Gadot's hero to the present day of the DCEU after the events of Justice League and her cameo appearance in The Flash.

In addition, the film was also going to feature other characters in the DCEU such as Ben Affleck's Batman. So far, neither DC Studios nor Jenkins have commented on the rumor.

Given that the first two films were period pieces, it sounded like the third film would have been a fresher take on the hero's solo venture since we would have seen her in the modern day where she is already part of the Justice League.

The idea is also slightly similar to The Flash where they will establish that the titular character is already a well-known superhero that the people recognize and there are going to be appearances from other DCEU actors such as Affleck, who also showed up in the Speedster's film.

However, if they proceeded with the plan, it would have also meant that The Flash's ending would have established that Affleck remained as the DCEU's Batman instead of George Clooney. It also meant that Affleck could have continued in the role of Batman after all.

This is certainly an interesting idea to hear now that we're almost a year away from the project's cancellation and all fans can do at this point is ponder about what the DC franchise may have looked like today if the plan continued without Gunn and Safran taking over.
