Camp Cretaceous Season 4 Trailer is a Game-Changer for the Franchise

Now that 'Jurassic World: Dominion' has officially wrapped production, fans will be waiting with bated breath for the sixth installment in the 'Jurassic' franchise to send ripples through soda drinks in theaters next June, but luckily we've got 'Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 4' to whet our carnivorous appetites until then...

'Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous' has been a pretty big hit on Netflix since it started in 2020. And since then, we've already had three seasons of the show. Now, there's a fourth on the horizon, and a brand-new trailer recently dropped. While the show continues to follow our team of teens who have been left stranded on Isla Nublar, Season 4 looks like a bit of a gamechanger.

Sink your teeth into the trailer below:

Once again, Ben, Yaz, Brooklynn, Kenji, Sammy and Darius are thrown into a survival situation, with the dinosaurs of Jurassic World being as relentless as ever. So far, each show has ended with a major cliffhanger, and Season 3 was no different, as it saw the characters finally manage to escape Isla Nublar by ferry. However, in true 'Jurassic' fashion, things clearly don't work out for them.

But Season 3 also shook things up a bit, as we caught up with 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom', the 2018 sequel to 'Jurassic World'. While this initially left fans confused, given that 'Fallen Kingdom' takes place three years after 'Jurassic World', the show suggests that the 2018 film's opening scene - in which mercenaries arrive at Isla Nublar to retrieve Indominus Rex DNA - happens only six months after the park collapses.

Nevertheless, as you can see from the brand-new trailer, 'Camp Cretaceous' continues to close the gap in the movies, as it features the long-awaited return of the prehistoric 'underdog' Spinosaurus, the main dino-villain from 2001's 'Jurassic Park III'. Despite that film getting a lukewarm reception from critics, fans, and the box office, fans continue to enjoy its fearsome super predator.

But what's particularly striking about this new trailer are two other things besides the Spinosaurus, with the first being the strange hi-tech facility where the teenagers find themselves, presumably after being washed ashore when their boat is attacked by the escaped Mosasaur (just as it escapes in 'Fallen Kingdom'). Finally, it looks like we're about to get a refreshing change of scenery, as there's really only so much jungle we can take.

However, let's address the saber-tooth tiger in the room... Yes - it looks like 'Camp Cretaceous' Season 4 will include the Pleistocene predator. And seeing as it has been confirmed by the showrunner - and in many ways, the show itself - that 'Camp Cretaceous' is canon, this raises many questions about the movies. With that said, such animals were teased in the viral marketing for the 2015 film, via 'fake' Masrani Corporation websites.

So what does this mean for the movies? Is 'Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous' simply doing its own thing, or is it setting the stage for future movies, beyond 'Jurassic World: Dominion'? All we know is that 'Dominion' will take place on mainland America, where dinosaurs are thriving in the wild. But as producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that it won't be the last movie, it begs to question whether a future movie will revolve around saber tooth tigers and woolly mammoths.
