California Will Allow Film and TV Production to Resume Next Week

It looks like major projects being filmed in Los Angeles and San Francisco could soon resume production. The state of California has just greenlit film and TV production to resume next week after the coronavirus outbreak shutdown in late March.

Variety reports that the state Department of Public Health has already issued extensive guidelines for safety in music, film, and TV productions. This would include "regular testing of crew members, six-foot physical distancing, and widespread use of face coverings." These would have to be enforced once productions resume on Friday, June 12.

Dr. Sonia Angell, the director of the CDPH, issued a statement about the guidelines.

"As we continue to release guidance on how different sections can reopen with modifications, it is important to remember guidance doesn't mean ‘go,'" Dr. Angell said. "Your local health officer will make the final decision about which sectors will open, guided by data specific to your community."

Several major productions were shut down back in late March. This includes the highly anticipated The Matrix 4, which was being filmed in San Francisco. Needless to say, this is good news for fans who have been hoping that all the major films and TV shows that have been put on hold can finally resume.

Film and TV productions are not the only ones that can resume in Californa this month. The state also gave its blessing for sporting events to be held without spectators but will also be subject to labor agreement and local approval.
