What Is Burn the Witch About?

Before we explore Noel and Nanny’s relationship, let’s find out what Burn the Witch is all about.

The world of Burn the Witch has a Front side and a Reverse side.

Throughout history, a staggering 72% of fatalities in London have been attributed to dragons, mystical entities that remain invisible to the majority of the population.

Despite their hidden existence, a courageous few have risen to challenge these mysterious creatures.

Only the residents of Reverse London, dwelling in the concealed reverse side of the city, possess the ability to perceive these dragons.

Even among them, only a select few are witches and wizards who can establish direct connections with these fantastical beings.

At the center of all this are Noel and Ninny who serve as protection agents for Wing Bind (WB), an organization dedicated to the conversation and management of dragons.

Entrusted with the task of safeguarding London’s dragons on behalf of the population, their mission unfolds within the mysterious realms of the city.

Back in 2018, Kubo announced that he was ready to release a new one-shot “love comedy” manga titled Burn the Witch.

While Burn the Witch has flavors of love and comedy, it is still unconfirmed if it is a through-and-through yuri anime.

The two main characters, Ninny and Noel, are poles apart when it comes to their personalities.

Noel exudes a composed demeanor, and at the same time, she appears indifferent to things.

Meanwhile, Ninny is someone with a spark, and she is fairly temperamental and loud.

In the series, Kubo has not explored a yuri angle between Ninny and Noel.

Ninny and her comrade, Noel, are working partners who are different from each other. But somehow, they are in sync when seen together in action.

Despite Ninny and Noel working closely with each other, Burn the Witch is not necessarily a yuri anime.

Meanwhile, there is some tension between Balgo and Noel. However, it can be seen as Balgo teasing Noel because of his repeated attempts to see Noel’s underwear.

Burn the Witch #0.8 was released on December 29, 2023, and is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
