Bryan Cranston Cast in Power Rangers Movie

Former Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston just revealed he will be playing Zordon in the upcomingPower Rangers movie. The actor unveiled the information through a tweet:

The upcoming film is directed by Dean Israelite and produced by Lionsgate. It will be the third theatrical release in the Power Rangers franchise. Saban's Power Rangers franchise first made its debut in 1993. It focused on five teenagers who transformed into costumed superheroes to save the world. The show used footage from the Japanese production Super Sentai for the battle sequences and original footage for the out-of-costume scenes. Now the franchise is getting a brand new updated movie which will be released March 24, 2017.

Bryan Cranston is not new to the Power Rangers franchise. He voiced characters like "Twin Man" and "Snizzard" on the original show. As he notes in his tweet, he was so beloved by the crew that the character Billy Cranston was named after him.

Cranston's new role as Zordon is a big one. Zordon is the floating head to brings the Power Rangers together and mentors them. He is trapped in a time warp, but still manages to provide the team with weapons and direction. Cranston shows in his tweet that he's keen to take on such an iconic role.

Cranston is a great actor and I'm happy that he gets to come back to a franchise that means so much to him. Are you excited to see Bryan Cranston as Zordon? Do you think the upcoming Power Rangers movie will be good?
