Brigitte Officially Announced as New Overwatch Hero

With Blizzard giving us a handful of teasers this week, we finally have out first look at the newest hero of Overwatch, Brigitte Lindholm. A new Origin short has been released for her, and the character is now available to play in the PTR.

Check her out:

Brigitte had made her first appearance in the comics, and was also featured in Reinhardt's animated origin short. Birgitte is the daughter of Torbjorn, but though she was raised in his workshop, she has a fighting style very close to that of Rein.

Brigitte falls in the category of support hero, but she is considered to be a hybrid between support and tank. Her main weapon is a rocket flail and she also comes with a smaller version of Rein's shield. What's more, her abilities allow her to provide armor for her comrades in battle and she also has a passive ability that heals nearby teammates over time.

As for her ultimate, it's a skill called Rally which basically acts like Lucio or Zen's ult. She generates a huge amount of armor for all her nearby allies and her movement speed is increased—allowing her to lead a team into battle.

People who have been trying her out on the PTR have been likening Brigitte to that of a Paladin in Overwatch. She provides an interesting counter to a lot of heroes in the game, and I can't wait for her to arrive officially to Overwatch.

Brigitte is now playable in the PTR.
