Brad Bird Says He Has So Many Ideas That Could Be Used For Incredibles 3

Incredibles 2 might have just recently made its big premiere, but now, it looks like fans of the animated superhero franchise have started clamoring for more.

Though it took the original Incredibles director Brad Bird more or less 14 years to work on the film's sequel, it looks like the filmmaker has so much material left over from Incredibles 2, he'd be able to work on a third movie soon enough.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bird admitted that he killed off a "city full of darling" superheroes, moving on to the next till he got Incredibles 2 right. However, the director still seems to feel so passionately about the different plot threads and characters that really didn't find their way in the major storylines of Incredibles 2 – one Helen Parr's new mission as Elastigirl and two Bob Parr's domestic woes as a stay-at-home dad.

"We storyboarded, and we designed characters, and they're really good! Some of them were really funny and cool and explored certain things…" Bird told the publication. "You know, you never say never, because there might be an opportunity to use it. Maybe the idea shows up in a different film. There was an idea I had for an animated version of The Spirit that I ended up using in The Iron Giant. You never know how these things are going to get repurposed. There were a lot of ideas that we had on this film that could be [used]… whether it's another Incredibles film, or something else."

Seeing Bird being open to the idea of working on another Incredibles movie is definitely exciting news for fans of the Parr family.

Though some felt like Incredibles 2 didn't quite live up to the critical success of the original Academy Award-winning animated superhero movie, the film has received a lot of great reviews from fans and critics. Not only does the film have a 98% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, it also has an 80% score on Metacritic. Incredibles 2 even made box office history with its incredible $180 million opening during its first weekend in cinemas – the largest of all time for an animated movie.

With so much critical and commercial success, we're pretty sure that Pixar will find a way to get another Incredibles movie out soon.
