One of the upcoming DCEU films that are currently in the works is Blue Beetle which will mark the introduction of the titular DC hero on the big screen. After years of being in development, production for the film has started recently and fans have been patiently waiting for their first look at Xolo Maridueña's costume as the hero and now it looks like they have arrived.
Thanks to Just Jared, we now have the set photos from Blue Beetle which revealed Maridueña's comic-accurate costume. The images were shot on the set of the film which is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia.
You can check some of the photos below along with the reaction from fans who seem to be delighted and enthusiastic about the look of the costume:
A set video has also emerged online where we see Maridueña in action as the hero:
Hours after the set photos surfaced online, Maridueña posted an Instagram story to thank the fans for the positive responses to his costume.
Maridueña's costume does look very impressive based on the set photos and it really looked accurate from the pages of the comics which added more to how impressive they were able to translate it to the screen. Soon enough, they might release an official first look photo on their social media accounts and, once they release a trailer, we will have our look at how the costume truly looks in action apart from the set video.
Angel Manuel Soto is directing the film from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer’s screenplay. John Rickard serves as the producer. Besides Maridueña, the cast includes Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillen, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Belissa Escobedo, Bruna Marquezin, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.
Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
