Blade Star Wesley Snipes Joins Coming To America 2

He might not be returning as Eric Brooks but Wesley Snipes has a cool new gig to look forward to. The former Blade actor has been cast in Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall's sequel to Coming To America.

The report from Deadline reveals that Snipes will play General Izzi, who is described as "the ruler of a neighboring nation of Zamunda." It is still unclear if he will be a friend or a threat to Murphy's Prince Akeem.

Snipes isn't the only one who will be joining the cast of Coming To America 2. It was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that If Beale Street Could Talk star Kiki Layne is confirmed to play Prince Akeem's daughter. The young princess is said to be "burdened with feeling like she is the son her father never had." In addition to that, Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones is reportedly in negotiations to appear in an undisclosed role.

The sequel, which is currently titled Coming 2 America, will focus on Prince Akeem as he ascends to the throne of Zamunda. However, he soon discovers that he actually fathered a son during his trip to New York. Akeem now has to return to America to find his son and hopefully take him back to the kingdom to be groomed as the crown prince.

Coming 2 America will be directed by Craig Brewer with the script written by Kenya Barris. It is currently scheduled for release on December 18, 2020.
