Blade Runner Anime Black Lotus Trailer Follows Replicant on the Run

In case you missed it, Blade Runner is releasing another anime and it's finally coming this year. The exciting first trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus has just been dropped and it follows a replicant as she tries to evade capture.

The Blade Runner: Black Lotustrailer was dropped during Comic-Con at Home and it opens with a young woman wandering around Los Angeles in the year 2032. She doesn't know where she is and how she got there but she immediately gets into trouble as some men gang up on her in a dark alley.

Amazingly, things don't turn out the way it usually does. The girl fends off her attackers, easily taking them down. However, she doesn't even know how she managed to do so.

Things are clearly not what they seem. In another scene, a man warns the girl to walk away but she insists that she can't. At one point, she asks to borrow a katana and is then shown taking on several opponents. Is she the Black Lotus? And why does everyone want to capture her?

Black Lotus serves as the sequel to Blade Runner Black Out 2022 which introduced Tyrell Corporation's new Nexus-8 replicants. The new anime is expected to bring back some characters from Black Out so it will be interesting to catch up with them after a decade.

The new anime stars Iron Fist actress Jessica Henwick as Elle, the female replicant who has a mysterious purpose. She will be joined by Will Yun Lee, Samira Wiley, Brian Cox, Wes Bentley, Josh Duhamel, Peyton List and many more.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll in Fall 2021.
