One of the MCU films that Marvel Studios is currently working on is Blade which will star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in the titular role. However, the studio recently halted its pre-production as it was impacted by the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
Before the strike commenced, we heard several updates about the film as it was supposedly gearing up for production soon. A recent report revealed that Pearl star Mia Goth was cast in the film although the details regarding her role were under wraps during that time.
Now, it looks like we finally have the information on Goth's mysterious role in the film. According to insider Daniel Richtman (via The Direct), the Pearl star is playing Lilith, the main villain of the film.
However, he didn't clarify which version of Lilith from the comics is Goth going to play in the film, but it is speculated to be the Mother of Demons.
He also revealed that Aaron Pierre, who was originally cast in the film back when Bassam Tariq was helming, is no longer part of the cast as his character was removed from the current script.
Richtman also claimed that Delroy Lindo is going to play Deacon Frost, another villain in the film, while rapper Saul Williams has been cast to play Blade's mentor Jamal Afari.
So far, neither Marvel Studios nor the major trades have confirmed Richtman's scoops regarding the MCU film so we still have to take it with a grain of salt.
If Goth does end up playing the main villain, it is certainly an exciting role for her to play since she is a talented actress and she has proven in her past horror roles that she can do an exceptional job of playing a dark character.
We should be hearing more updates about the film in the coming weeks or months as Marvel Studios is expected to resume work on the project once the WGA strike has ended.
