BLACKPINK Rose is not spending all her time as a K-pop idol.

Before rising to fame as a member of the supergroup, BLACKPINK, Rose familiarized herself with music by singing and learning to play musical instruments at a young age. She also honed her skills by joining choirs.

Her professional career started when she ranked first among 700 participants when YG Entertainment conducted a global audition in Sydney, Australia. From there, she continuously savored fame and became a K-pop star.

In the past years, Rose became busy with BLACKPINK and her solo engagements. She debuted as a soloist while her empire in the fashion industry continued to grow.

But amid her hectic schedule, Rose ensures she still has some time to play and have fun.

Rose Finds New Hobby

In a photoshoot and interview with Dazed Korea for its March issue, the BLACKPINK member spoke candidly about her recent interests and how skateboarding became her latest “addiction.”

According to Rose, she always comes up with ideas to keep herself busy. But one day, she suddenly dreamt of skateboarding, which pushed her to start learning its basics.

“Even if you look around your surroundings because you want to learn, sometimes it’s not as easy as you want it to be. At that time, I progressed quickly. I felt good when I fell down at first. I guess I was waiting for that. I wondered when I would fall, and when I did I thought ‘Okay, this is it,’” she said.

She showed the world that she is already a skater girl by sporting a perfect get-up while showing off her skills. Her fan page noted that an American skateboard company, NineOneSeven, made her skateboard deck.

Rose Has to Rest For Now

Though she has all the time in the world to learn skateboarding, Rose needed to pause for a moment after testing positive for COVID-19.

This week, YG Entertainment confirmed to Billboard that the K-pop idol tested positive for the virus before her scheduled travel plans. It remains unknown when and where she contracted the disease, but she celebrated her 25th birthday weeks before learning her diagnosis.

As of press time, there is no confirmation whether her band members – Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa – were exposed to her.
